INVESTIGATIONS ON: Police personnel taking suspected terrorist Imran Jalal for narco analysis test, in Bangalore on Tuesday.

BANGALORE: Suspected terrorist Imran Jalal on Tuesday claimed during a narco analysis test that he had taken part in the attack on the Indian Institute of Science (IISc.) on December 28, 2005, according to higlyplaced sources in the city police.

The sources told The Hindu that while answering certain questions during the narco analysis, Imran said that after the attack he escaped from the IISc. campus in a car and later reached Kashmir via Hyderabad. Imran reportedly said that he was carrying arms and ammunitions in the car. Imran said that he was present at the scene during a serial blast at New Delhi's Sarojini Market. These claims had to be corroborated, sources said.

According to the law, a statement made by a person during a narco analysis is neither treated as a confession nor as evidence in the court of law. The information provided will be used as a clue to physically establish the claims. The inputs provided by Imran are of great value for the Bangalore police, who are groping in the dark in the IISc. attack case. A scientist was killed and four were injured in the attack. Police teams are likely to visit Hyderabad and Jammu and Kashmir in the next few days.

The sources said the narco test, which was conducted for a second time on Tuesday at the Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital, remained inconclusive.
