SBT bounces back

KOCHI: Stung by a one-run loss to Muthoot ECC in its opener, Thiruvananthapuram's State Bank of Travancore bounced back strongly and thrashed BDL, Hyderabad, by seven wickets in a Group `A' league match of the 20th BPCL Kochi Refinery all-India cricket tournament at Ambalamugal on Wednesday.

There was no such joy for defending champion and host BPCL Kochi Refinery, which crashed out of the tournament after losing its second match, in Group `B'. Indian Bank (Chennai), thriving on Pramod Das' unbeaten century, defeated the host by eight wickets.

The scores: BPCL Kochi Refinery 181 for six in 30 overs (Vipin Lal 49, Vineeth Viswanath 46) lost to Indian Bank (Chennai) 187 for two in 27.2 overs (Pramod Das 102 n.o., C.K. Suresh 53);

BDL (Hyderabad) 151 in 28 overs lost to SBT (Thiruvananthapuram) 157 for three in 23.2 overs (M.P. Sorab 48, Prasanth Menon 49 n.o.).

Muthoot ECC (Ernakulam) 220 for seven in 30 overs (M. Pradeep 60, Thejas 43) lost to DTDC (Bangalore) 222 for six in 28.4 overs (Sandeep Lele 86, Avinash 56), at St Paul's College, Kalamassery. — Principal Correspondent
