Humpy inches closer to Super GM title

BANGALORE: Indian chess ace Koneru Humpy is just 33 ELO points away from becoming a Super Grandmaster.

The reigning World Junior champion and Asian Games gold medallist is determined to achieve it as early as possible.

"It is a goal I have set to achieve as early as possible. I plan to play at the Dubai Open later in February and follow it up with a few tournaments in Europe. Playing against as many world-ranked men players as possible is the key," said Humpy.

She was in the city along with Tania Sachdev, the Asian girls' champion, to launch zapak.com's online multiplayer chess and speed chess online games.
