Emphatic victory for SAI (Madikere)

BANGALORE: Sports Authority of India (Madikere) scored an emphatic 7-0 win over Mysore Sports Hostel to bag the P. Dayananda Pai memorial trophy in the KSHA women's hockey league championship here on Wednesday.

P.N. Shruthy (6th, 16th and 26th) scored thrice while Kulshambi (24th and 51st) scored a brace. Leelavathy (36th) and A.K. Sindhu (58th) also scored.

In the play-off for the third and fourth place, Bellary District beat Bagalkot 2-0 with Sneha (3rd) and Christina Samantha Paul (47th) scoring the goals.

The following players were presented awards for their performances: Kechamma, P.N. Shruthy, Munirathnamma, Asha and Sukeerthi.

Big win for Modern CC

Modern Cricket Club defeated Whirlwind Cricketers by 186 runs in a KSCA Group I fourth division Metro Shield Super League match here recently. Modern CC, powered by G. Balaji (96) and Dhruv Sharma (91), posted 324 for nine in 50 overs and in reply, Whirlwind mustered only 138.

The scores: Modern CC 324 for nine in 50 overs (G. Balaji 96, Dhruv Sharma 91, R. Muralidhar 44, Puneeth five for 92) bt Whirlwind Cricketers 138 in 20.3 overs; Vivekananda Union CC 138 in 29.5 overs (Shiva Kumar 57, K.R. Kishore four for 46, Naveen four for 60) lost to Friends CC 141 for four in 33.5 overs (Anish John 54 n.o.).

Cheluvaraj sparkles

H.R. Cheluvaraj (88) helped St. Philomena's First Grade College (Mysore) beat TTL College of Business Management by 104 runs and entered the final of the Dr. K.L. Ramadas memorial inter-collegiate cricket tournament at the Maharaja's College grounds at Mysore on Wednesday.

The scores: Semifinals: St. Philomena's FGC 240 for eight in 30 overs (H.R. Cheluvaraj 88, Harsha Kumar Naidu 41) bt TTL College of Business Management 136 for six in 30 overs (Yeshwanth 57 not out). Yuvaraja's College, Mysore 121 for eight in 30 overs (K.B. Chandan four for 31) lost to SBRR Mahajana FGC 122 for four in 21.1 overs (Sunil Kumar Jain 71 not out).
