``No plaints of corporal punishment''

Puducherry : Education Minister M O H F Shajahan told The Hindu here on Wednesday that there was no report or complaint of corporal punishment in educational institutions in the Union Territory. However, if any report was received, the Department of Education would take stern action against the erring institutions.

He said that instructions were already given informally that corporal punishment should not be given in the institutions. No instance of violation of the instructions had been reported so far from any section, he added. — Special Correspondent.
