Puducherry . Chief Minister N Rangasamy garlanded the statue of the founder of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M G Ramachandran (MGR) opposite the Rajiv Gandhi Municipal bus terminal at Orleanpet here on the leader's 90th birth anniversary on Wednesday. Scores of volunteers and functionaries of different wings of the AIADMK led by the Secretary of the Puducherry unit of the party A Anbalagan MLA and comprising among others Ohm Sakthi Segar MLA, the party's presidium leader M. Pandurangam and a host of office bearers of the party came in a procession from the party headquarters at Uppalam and garlanded the statue. The AIADMK held special programmes to distribute saris and dhotis and also food packets to the poor and the have-nots at different centres in and around the town as a highlight of celebration of the birth anniversary of MGR. Office-bearers of the New Justice Party led by its president S. Ponnurangam and the Manidha Neya Makkal Sevai Mandram headed by its convener G.Nehru also paid tributes at the statue.
