THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A rich bonanza awaits the Kerala medal winners in the 33rd National Games to be held in Guwahati from February 9 to 18.

According to a decision of the Government, a gold medal winner from the State would now receive Rs. 1.50 lakhs, a silver medallist Rs. 1 lakh and a bronze medallist Rs. 50,000. The corresponding figures until now were Rs. 1 lakh, Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 30,000 respectively.

Announcing the decision to enhance the cash awards, the Sports Minister, M. Vijayakumar told a press conference here on Wednesday that the entire contingent bound for Guwahati would be insured.
