Tirunelveli: An unbeaten 64 by B. Aparajith helped Tiruvallur defeat Coimbatore by eight wickets in the final of the under-13 inter-district cricket tournament and retain the ICL-Mahavirchand memorial Trophy at ICRC turf ground, Sankarnagar on Wednesday. The scores: Coimbatore 134 in 40 overs (Srivaradan 37, Hari Prasad 30) lost to Tiruvallur 135 for two in 37.5 overs (B. Aparajith 64 not out, B. Inderjth 37 not out).
Raffik, Gopi shine
Aided by incisive bowling by medium pacers, M. Mohamed Raffik (five for 49) and B. Gopi (four for 41), Dindigul restricted Vellore to a moderate 157 in 52.2 overs on the opening day of the two-day quarterfinals in the TNCA inter-district under-19 cricket tournament at Dindigul on Wednesday. The scores: Vellore 157 in 52.2 overs (M. Bilwa Prasad 49, B. Gopi four for 41, M. Mohamed Raffik five for 49) vs Dindigul 76 for four in 34.4 overs (N. Host Cosmo CC lifted the TDCA-Lions Club of Theni Mullai Trophy defeating Sanford Cricket Club, Andipatti by three wickets in the final of the District-level cricket tournament at TKSTTS ground, Theni on Wednesday. The scores: Sanford CC 176 in 29.4 overs (Kubendran 39) lost to Cosmo CC, Theni 178 for seven in 29.3 overs (Ram Prakash 52, Santhanam 40).
