Opportunities Fair to help launch dream careers

Thiruvananthapuram: As many as 30 leading companies in the information technology (IT) and IT-enabled services (ITES) sectors will be in the race to bag young talent at The Hindu -Opportunities Fair 2007 to be held at the University Stadium here on January 27 and 28.

More than 5,000 jobs in the IT, ITES, business process outsourcing (BPO) and insurance sectors will be up for grabs at the fair, which will provide a springboard for young aspirants to launch a dream career.

Free registration, entry

Registration for the fair and entry to it will be free. Fresh graduates and postgraduates, over 20 years of age, in any discipline, including engineering streams, can participate.

Candidates with less than two years experience will be considered freshers and those with two to 10 years experience as professionals.

Fast-track entry will be provided to the latter.

Registration can be done online at the following addresses: www.thehindu.com and www.tmifirst.com/hf6/index. aspx Candidates can walk into the fair with the registration acknowledgement. They should bring sufficient number of copies of their resume to be submitted to prospective employers.

At the fair, candidates will be short-listed at the stall area.

Each participating company will conduct its own tests to assess the skills and aptitudes of the candidates. Tests, interviews and recruitment-related activities will be done separately.

The Hindu -Opportunities Fair is a four-year-old brand that was kicked off in 2004. This is the second year the event is being hosted in Thiruvananthapuram.

Cognizant is the presenting sponsor and Patni the platinum sponsor of the fair. The associate sponsors are Verizon and Covansys. TMIfirst is the technology partner. The event is being held in partnership with Technopark.
