DECKED UP: Decorated elephants move towards the main venue of the Mahamastakabhishekha at Navagraha Tirtha, Varur, near Hubli on Wednesday.

HUBLI: Thousands of people took part in the rituals that were held as a precursor to the Mahamastakabhishekha of Bhagavan Parshwanath Tirthankar at Navagraha Tirtha at Varur near Hubli on Wednesday. Nitya Vidi Vidhana, Navagraha Homa, Vastu Vidhana, Mangala Kalashabhishekha and several other rituals were held on the third day of the twelve-day Mahamastakabhishekha, which was inaugurated by former Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani on Monday.

Several people from across the country witnessed the rituals and participated keenly. There was a discourse by Sri Siddheshwara Swami of Jnana Yogashrama in Bijapur in the evening.

The organisers said that throughout the twelve days there cultural programmes would be organised after the discourses.

Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister C.M. Udasi, Transport Minister N. Chaluvarayaswamy and others took part in the Mahamastabhishekha celebrations on Tuesday.
