Australia held

Buenos Aires: Spain rebounded from two heavy tournament losses to hold Australia to a 2-2 draw in the women's Champions Trophy hockey tournament at Quilmes here.

Olympic champion Germany scrapped a 1-0 win over rank outsider Japan in the day's second match and the World champion the Netherlands crushed host Argentina 3-0 in a late match.

The results: Spain 2 (Rocio Ibarra 30, Pilar Sanchez 48) drew with Australia 2 (Peta Gallagher 10 and 19); Germany 1 (Nadine Ernsting-Krienke 60) bt Japan 0; The Netherlands 3 (Fatima Moreira de Melo 12, Kim Lammers 38 and 56) bt Argentina 0.
