KADAPA: Kadapa Mayor P. Ravindranath Reddy on Wednesday demanded cancellation of DSC 2006 and its fresh conduct in view of the allegations of irregularities that led to a scam. "Stern action should be taken against officials who affected the prospects of lakhs of DSC candidates in the State and 14,000 candidates in Kadapa district," he said at a press conference here. DSC 2006 should be cancelled to ensure that DSC candidates were not affected. Mr. Ravindranath Reddy said he called on Collector M.T. Krishna Babu and SP Y. Nagi Reddy and demanded action against all those involved in the irregularities. Claiming that political leaders were not involved, he criticised Opposition parties for levelling allegations against Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and his relatives in every issue.
Rasta roko
An IAS officer was involved in the irregularities, the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) members alleged in a rasta roko before Zion College of Physical Education here on Wednesday. A comprehensive enquiry should be conducted into DSC 2006 and the guilty punished as a deterrent measure, DYFI district secretary B. Manohar alleged. Meanwhile, a group of DSC 2006 candidates claiming to be "merit candidates'' represented to Collectorate officials on Wednesday pleading not to cancel DSC 2006.
