Govt. plan size increased by Rs. 300 crores

SHIMLA: The size of the Annual Plan for the hill State of Himachal for the year 2007-08 has been fixed at Rs.2,100 crores against the approved Plan outlay of Rs.1,800 crores for 2006-2007.

After finalising the Plan at a meeting with the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission in New Delhi, Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said the major portion of the Plan (Rs. 902 crore) would be spent on the social service sectors including health, education and water supply schemes.

He said an outlay of Rs.222 crores had been approved for agriculture and allied activities keeping in view the Eleventh Plan priorities and Rs.260 crores would be spent on irrigation and flood control programmes in the State.

The Chief Minister claimed that the State economy had shown a robust growth rate of 8.2 per cent at the end of the fourth year of the Tenth Plan as against the national growth rate of 7.5 per cent. He said per capita income of Himachal Pradesh was Rs.30,140 during 2005-2006 as against the national per capita income of Rs.25,825.
