Hooda promises potable water to Mewat

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Government has envisaged an action plan for constructing a canal in the Mewat region to provide irrigation and potable water.

It has also started an innovative Rajiv Gandhi Water Supply Scheme in the district, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said on Wednesday.

Addressing a meeting on the 13th death anniversary of Meo leader Ajmat Khan at Punhana in Mewat district, Mr. Hooda Asserted that by next year every village of Mewat would get potable water.

Promising integral development of the area, Mr. Hooda said backwardness would be removed by providing power, water and employment to the youth. He said efforts were on to provide qualitative education in the area and 27 schools had been upgraded so far and three residential schools had been set up.

He announced that Ghashera would be transformed into a model village to make memorable the historical visit of Mahatma Gandhi to the village in 1947. He also announced opening of two polytechnics, Krishi Vigyan Kendra and training centre of Haryana Agricultural University and an ITI at Nuh.
