ADILABAD: The fight for an Indian Institute of Technology at Basar, waged by a conglomeration of non-Congress parties, is not devoid of political technicalities. While the TRS is planning to do a `Karimnagar' in Adilabad by forcing an election, the TDP is not ready to forgo its claim to be the party which has championed the cause for the last 10 years. Adilabad MP T. Madhusudan Reddy (TRS) announced his resignation on January 2 protesting against the location of the IIT at Isnapur in Medak district marking the TRS entry into the movement with a bang. The TRS at party level has not taken a stand on the issue though its chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao had attended the all-party public meeting at Basar recently. Sources say the TRS leadership is trying to impress upon the constituent parties to get the resignation of Mr. Madhusudan Reddy accepted and field him again as a consensus candidate of the all-party organisation, the Basar IIT Sadhana Samithi. However, the idea cut little favour with the TDP which feels such a decision will mean surrendering the `advantage' of leading the IIT movement to the TRS. In such scenario, S. Venugopalachary, TDP spokesman and convenor of the samithi, comprising Adilabad and Nizamabad units, is unlikely to forward it to Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee. Mr. Chary has the MP's resignation letter. Meanwhile, a delegation of the samithi met Labour Minister G. Vinod on Wednesday, seeking his support to the issue.
