HYDERABAD: A seven-month pregnant woman died on Tuesday allegedly after her husband kicked her in the stomach in a drunken condition, here at Pahadisharieff. The victim, Dhanumati, 20, and her husband Roopdhar Hans, 25, hailing from Orissa, were working as labourers at a brick kiln located on Ravirala-Tukkuguda stretch, along with 100 others. All the labourers used to live in huts near the kiln and receive weekly payments. Hans returned home in an intoxicated condition after collecting the weekly wage on Monday, Pahadisharieff Sub-Inspector C. Uma Maheswara Rao said. An argument broke out between Dhanumati and Hans when the latter said he would go to market to purchase groceries. "Dhanumati refused to let him go out in a drunken condition. Angered over this, he assaulted her and kicked her in the abdomen," the SI said. Neighbours intervened and sent away Hans. The woman was rushed to Government Maternity Hospital, Nayapool, when she complained of pain. She died on Tuesday afternoon while undergoing treatment. The police registered a murder case against Hans.
