D.H. Shankaramurthy
Minister for Higher Education D.H. Shankaramurthy said here on Wednesday that, according to the proposed calendar of events for the CET 2007, the test in physics and chemistry will be combined in a single session with 120 questions for 120 marks, and will be held from 10 a.m. to 12.30 pm. The test in mathematics will be in one session for 60 marks (60 questions) from 2 p.m. to 3.20 p.m. Biology for 60 marks and with 60 questions will be held from 4 p.m. to 5.20 p.m. The seat selection process will be completed before July 31, 2007. To meet the target and start classes by August 1, 2007, some procedures in the casual vacancy round will be changed. These are: first, that candidates who have been selected for concessional fee seats during the admission round will not be eligible for selection of concessional fee seat during the casual vacancy round. Secondly, the candidates who have selected higher fee seats during the admission round will not be eligible for selection of a higher fee seat during the casual vacancy round. There will be no change in the conduct of admission round for medical, dental, Indian System of Medicine and Homoeopathy, Engineering, Technology and Architecture course. Unlike in the past when daily bulletins on seat availability were posted four times a day on the CET website, this year the information will be updated once in half an hour. Candidates who are studying II PUC/12th standard within Karnataka should procure the CET 2007 application form-cum-brochure through the principals of their respective schools and colleges. Students who have already passed II PUC/12th std before 2007, repeater students, former students and those residing outside the State should get the application form through Speed Post directly from CET Cell. The CET Cell will not conduct aptitude tests for admission of candidates to architecture course. However, they should compulsorily appear for the NATA test conducted by the Council of Architecture and submit a certificate indicating their NATA scores to the CET celleither in person or through Speed Post. Those who do not submit the NATA scores would be deemed ineligible for admission for admission.
