Extension of Imran's custody may be sought

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Bangalore police have decided to file a remand application before the First Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, seeking extension of custody of suspected terrorist Imran Jalal to ascertain his complicity in the attack on the Indian Institute of Science (IISc).

The court remanded Imran to police custody for 14 days on January 4.

As his custody ends on Thursday, the police have decided to seek an extension.

Sources in the police told The Hindu on Wednesday that they were seeking further custody of Imran in the wake of the claims made by him during narco analysis on Tuesday that he had taken part in the IISc., attack.

Further, the narco analysis test has remained inconclusive.

A lot of information has to be ascertained from him, the sources said.
