NEW DELHI: In a bid to curb the menace of defacement of public property, the Delhi Government has decided to put in place 266 poster display sites within two months. These sites can be used by people to paste their non-commercial posters on uniform display boards in the Capital and avoid defacement of public property. A decision to this effect was taken on Wednesday by Urban Development Minister A. K. Walia following a meeting with senior officials of the Public Works Department, the New Delhi Municipal Council, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and the Delhi police. While 87 boards would be installed in the PWD area, 30 would be put up in the NDMC area. The remaining 149 poster display sites would be installed in the MCD area. The boards would be 15 feet by five feet in size. They would be fixed at least two-and-a-half feet above the ground level to ensure better visibility to passers-by. The Urban Development Ministry has also got the nod from the traffic police for putting up the boards.
