Shobha yatra marks Vivekananda Jayanti

HUBLI: A shobha yatra and students' convention was held here under the aegis of Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad on Thursday as part of the Vivekananda Jayanti celebrations.

Students from various colleges took part in the shobha yatra, which began from Vidyanagar and concluded at Indira Glass House, where a students' convention was organised.

A huge portrait of Swami Vivekananda mounted on a vehicle was carried in a procession to the venue. Delivering the keynote address, Raghunandan, organising secretary of the Southern region of the parishad said Swami Vivekananda is a model to the youth of the country. In order to make the youngsters imbibe the qualities of Swami Vivekananda, there is a need to include his life and views in textbooks, he said.

Lectures

Principals N.N. Patil, Mahesh Dyavappanavar, Sandip Budihal, S.C. Hiremath, B.G. Madli and office-bearers of the parishad Dr. Shivananda Dhaduti, Mahendra Kautal, Vadiraj Kulkarni spoke on the life of Swami Vivekananda and his teachings.
