BAnGALORE: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Thursday met foreign ministerial and business delegations that are here to attend the "CII Summit 2007."

He met delegations from the UAE, France and Sri Lanka and discussed with them business and investment proposals.

The Government of UAE led by Saud Bin Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras-Al-Khaimah, offered to invest in building airports in two-tier cities in the State such as Bellary, Belgaum, Gulbarga and Hassan, and in upgrading Karnataka State Highways to international standards.

A delegation from France led by Minister-Delegate for Industries Francois Loos urged the Chief Minister to speed up granting of land for the European Aerospace Development Service (EADS) to set up an Information Technology unit connected with the aerospace industry near the Devanahalli Airport.

Application pending

The application of EADS is pending before the high-level committee on industries which is under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister is the chairman. France has also offered to construct waste water treatment plants, and invest in the development of integrated townships.

Minister for Industries Katta Subramanya Naidu, and several top officials, were present at the closed-door discussions. On Wednesday, the Chief Minister held discussions with delegations from Belgium, Syria , Singapore and Kuwait.

Over 200 delegates attending the conference including ministers, senior officials, industrialists, investors, financial agencies and others called on the Chief Minister through the evening and expressed their interest to invest in the State. Sri Lanka, led by Minister for Enterprise Development and Investments Rohitha Bogollagama, sought the State's support in developing Information Technology and Business Process Outsourcing units.
