Water supply to be affected today

NEW DELHI: Water supply will not be available in Gulabi Bagh DDA Flats, Shastri Nagar, Subhash Colony, Sarai Basti, Shahzada Bagh Phase I and II, Inderlok, Tulsi Nagar and adjoining areas of Delhi between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Friday because of repairs being carried out to the pumping mains at Shastri Nagar.

Water supply will be available at low pressure because of annual flushing of overhead tanks and underground reservoirs in Than Singh Nagar, Anand Parbat, Ramjas Society, Punjabi Basti, Bapa Nagar, Ramjas Tank Booster area, Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar, Samaypur Badli Extension, A-Block Harkeksh Nagar and Moti Bagh on Friday.

Nehru Bal Samiti awards

NEW DELHI: Nehru Bal Samiti is organising its 44th annual prize distribution function at its premises here in South Extension Part II this Saturday.

Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ram Babu Sharma will be the chief guest at the Nehru Bal Mela function in which the Lieutenant-Governor's Trophy will be presented to NBS Bal Vikas Vidyalaya, Masjid Moth, for collecting the highest number of credits in stage performances.

For excelling in painting during the Bal Mela painting competitions, Kala Shree Awards will be presented to 13 children from various schools of the Capital and the National Capital Region.

New building at Old Secretariat

NEW DELHI: A new annexe building with high-tech facilities will be constructed at Old Secretariat here soon. This was announced by Delhi Assembly Speaker Chaudhary Prem Singh during a meeting here on Thursday with a delegation of the Committee on Privileges of the Haryana Assembly.

A huge hostel for MLAs would also be constructed, he said.

"Lifestyle disorders are preventable"

NEW DELHI: Delivering a talk on "Education and Healthcare" at the 34th World Marketing Congress here on Thursday, Heart Care Foundation of India president K. K. Aggarwal said most lifestyle disorders are self-inflicted and preventable.

Dr. Aggarwal said most of the diseases being treated today would not have been prevalent if a proper lifestyle was followed.

He said steps to prevent lifestyle diseases should begin during school and college years.
