Nasik: A leopard, which was trapped after it strayed into a residential area here and injured four people, has died, Forest department officials said on Thursday.

The animal, which was trapped on Wednesday, bore no external injuries and died probably due to "traumatic shock," the officials told PTI.

Animal Husbandry Department officials said the leopard might have died due to the beating it got from locals, who hit it with sticks and iron bars while chasing it.

The animal strayed into Laxmi Nagar, triggering panic for at least seven hours before being caught.
