CHENNAI: The Supreme Being incarnates time and again to reinstate righteousness and protect His devotees from evil forces. Amongst His many auspicious qualities, His compassion towards one and all is outstanding and is manifest in all His incarnations. It knows no bounds and extends even to His sworn enemies. Even a foe or a sinner becomes a recipient of His love, provided he mends his ways and seeks God's protection. Sri B. Sundarkumar drew attention to this extraordinary quality of the Lord that is endless and limitless, and is evident when He, in many unique and unexpected ways has hastened to rescue a countless number of His Bhaktas in distress. The outrage on Draupadi's modesty at the court of Dhritarashtra left her frantic with dismay. Realising that none else but Lord Krishna could save her from the imminent dishonour, she gave up all attempts to protect herself, and with absolute faith surrendered unconditionally at His feet. Lord Krishna saved her from humiliation with the supply of an endless flow of cloth that left Dusshasana gaping with wonder, being unable to pull further. In another incident, when Draupadi sought Lord Krishna's help, being frightened by the prospect of Sage Durvasa's curse, who had arrived with a large retinue of disciples for food when there was no more food to be served for the day, the Lord saved the Pandavas from danger by eating a morsel of leftover food that had satisfied the sage and his following. The Lord is the most dependable help and support to all Jivatmas, irrespective of their status or form, the only requisite being total and unflinching faith in Him. In response to Prahlada's faith, the Lord incarnated as Narasimha from the very pillar that his father Hiranyakashipu had indicated. Gajendra's pleas to the Lord to save him from the crocodile were answered with promptness. Lord Rama accepted Vibhishana who sought His refuge and demonstrated the efficacy of the principle of surrender that can redeem the Jivatmas.
