President cancels visit

HYDERABAD: President A. P. J. Abdul Kalam has cancelled his engagements in Kurnool and Hyderabad on Saturday in view of the loss of lives in the boat tragedy in the Krishna. He was scheduled to visit Raghavendra Swamy Mutt at Mantralayam and participate in the golden jubilee celebrations of Kurnool Medical College.

In a message, Dr. Kalam described the accident as "unfortunate" and conveyed his deepest sympathies to members of the bereaved families.

The President is likely to fulfil his engagements at a later date.
