Commercial property sealed in Delhi

NEW DELHI: In compliance with Supreme Court orders, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Friday sealed a commercial establishment operating from a residential area in Civil Lines Zone. The action was initiated on Nirankari Sant Samagam Road in Nirankari Colony.

A total of 5,138 illegal commercial properties in the Capital have been targeted so far since the drive began on November 8.

Air Force Platinum Jubilee show

NEW DELHI: The Indian Air Force will display state-of-the-art aircraft at its Palam Technical Area here for two days beginning this Saturday. The display has been organised to mark the Platinum Jubilee of the Air Force and pay tribute to the soldiers who have contributed to the growth of the force.

The display will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Five civic projects for Majlis Park

NEW DELHI: Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ram Babu Sharma on Friday laid the foundation stone for five civic projects valued at Rs.7.25 crore at Majlis Park in North Delhi. The projects, to be completed in 18 months, include a swimming pool, a gymnasium, a community hall, a dispensary and a primary school building.

Mr. Sharma said implementation of the unit area method of property tax, e-governance and e-tendering had brought about transparency in the functioning of the MCD besides making it citizen-friendly.

"Strike not a solution to the problem"

NEW DELHI: Welcoming the All-India Motor Transport Congress' decision to withdraw from the proposed strike of transporters on the issue of Third Party Insurance Premium hike, the All-India Transporters' Welfare Association on Friday called for appointment of a committee to look into reforms in motor vehicle insurance policy.

Stating that strike is not a solution to the problem, it said the proposed hike of 70 per cent in the insurance premium would affect the transporters adversely.

An occasion for little heroes

NEW DELHI: Winners of the National Bravery Awards-2006 got a chance to spend a day at "Fun and Food Village" here on Friday. Making it an occasion to remember for the little heroes and heroines, the amusement park had made special arrangements for them.

The children got to take free rides and enjoy their day out with their parents. A special attraction was a "Virtual Jungle'' with life-size animal figures.
