BANGALORE: Geet Sethi, former world champion was the `lord and master' at the table here on Saturday. The veteran sizzled with two 500 plus breaks first in the pre-quarters against Railways Siddarth Parikh (break of 524) in the morning and then he came out firing in the evening against the dangerous Alok Kumar with a 546 that took the stuffing out of the Punjab and PSPB cueist in the quarters at 1404-649. Geet will meet PSPB's Pankaj Advani in the semifinals of the Jain Heights 73rd Senior National Billiards championship. Gujarat's Rupesh Shah made it a double delight when he kept defending champion Devendra Joshi (PSPB) at bay to chalk out a thrilling 796-728 win. Rupesh will now run into PSPB's Dhruv Sitwala who annihilated B. Bhaskar's game plan with an 825-572 verdict.
Shahbaaz triumphs
Kolkata's 17-year-old Shahbaaz Adil Khan, playing only his second National, claimed the junior National billiards title with an all-win record in the semifinal league. At the Bowring Institute's Billiards Hall here, Shahbaaz, having won his earlier league matches against Manish Jain and Rishab Pandya, cruised along to a deserving 878-753 win over Aditya Agarwal of Maharashtra.
