Rajiv Shukla's book released

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: "You are not in the side for the next Test. We have decided to look at the future." The words crushed Sourav Ganguly's cricketing dreams and coming from Greg Chappell, they meant a lot. Chappell was sitting next to Ganguly in the team bus as they returned to the hotel from the Ferozeshah Kotla after beating Sri Lanka in December, 2005.

The conversation is reported in `Dressing Room', a book released by BCCI Vice-President Rajiv Shukla at a function held at the Chelmsford Club here on Saturday.

The book, written by Abhishek Dubey and published by Fusion Books, is a collection of cricket anecdotes, narrated in a simple style. There is nothing sensational as Dubey sticks to cricket matters.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Shukla appealed to the media to be careful when reporting on cricket matters. "I am appalled at the manner in which the news channels go overboard when reporting cricket. There is needless concentration on creating controversies when there is none," said Mr. ShuklaThere is interesting information on BCCI's charges against former President Jagmohan Dalmiya and a chapter on the emergence of players from small towns.
