KADAPA: Rajya Sabha member and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader C. Ramachandraiah on Saturday demanded a CBI enquiry into irregularities in DSC-2006, stating that the district police was not equipped to conduct a comprehensive enquiry. Minister for Education N. Rajyalakshmi should resign from the Cabinet for her failure to conduct DSC-2006 properly, he said at a press conference here. In all, over 17,000 less than mediocre candidates secured 90 per cent marks in DSC in an unusual manner, he said and sought cancellation of the exam. He alleged manipulations of OMR sheets in Kadapa, Anantapur, Nalgonda and other districts. DSC-2006 was steeped in irregularities with deputation of invigilators, leakage of question papers, circulation of answers in exam centres and manipulation of OMR sheets, Mr. Ramachandraiah alleged. He alleged involvement of an IAS officer and six Congress leaders of Kadapa district in the scam. Several candidates paid Rs. 2 lakhs to Rs. 3.50 lakhs for securing high marks and getting selected, he alleged.
