NEW DELHI: Continuing a dream run, G. Rohit attained his maiden Grandmaster norm in great style when he toppled former joint champion and Uzbek GM Saidali Iuldachev to share the lead after eight rounds of the Parsvnath International Open chess tournament at the Indira Gandhi Stadium here on Saturday. Rohit, top-seeded Russian Alexey Dreev and Egypt's Ahmed Adly tallied seven points after resounding victories. Dreev stopped Pravin Thipsay and Adly raced away to his fourth successive victory at the expense of Uzbek Shukhrat Safin. Rohit, who tamed GMs Surya Shekhar Ganguly and Dibyendu Barua earlier in the week, added the name of Iuldachev to his list of victims with a 42-move victory to make a nine-game norm with a round to spare.
