Andhra Bank adopts village

GEESUKONDA (WARANGAL): Andhra Bank has adopted Gangadevipalli village in the mandal as part of its `Pattabhi model village development plan' here on Saturday.

Andhra Bank Chairman K. Ramakrishnan announced the scheme at the village and assured the villagers of continued assistance.

The bank would implement its credit plan and provide financial assistance for both farm and non-farm activities.

All-round development

"Our aim is to ensure all-round and comprehensive development of the village.

The bank will also take over the existing debts with private money lenders and thus liberate the farmers from the distress," he said amidst cheers from the crowds.

Participating as the chief guest, district Collector K. Damayanthi lauded the efforts of the villagers who had to their credit many milestones.

She said the district administration was according top priority in implementing the welfare and developmental schemes in Gangadevipalli village.

Novel village

Village sarpanch K. Rajamouli said the villagers never differed in their opinion on any issue. They all stood united to secure the development and better standard of living. The village has many distinctions such as cent per cent literacy, cent per cent tax collection, committees to govern sanitation, drinking water supply and others. Mr. Ramakrishnan and Ms. K. Damayanthi were impressed by the work done by the villagers and appreciated their initiative in avoiding the election by choosing the candidates unanimously in local body elections.

Andhra Bank General Manager A.L. Nageswar Rao, M.V.K. Sarma, DGM, P. Sreerama Raju, AGM, and others were present.
