CHENNAI: The Sri Ramachandra Medical College (SRMC) police at Porur arrested a British national on Friday and seized 28 ATM cards from him. The police got information that a few persons were using fake ATM cards to withdraw money from an ATM centre of a private bank on Mount-Poonamallee Road, Porur. Following this, a special party was formed which arrested G. Elango (38) of Middlesex, United Kingdom. Besides the ATM cards, registration certificate books of two cars, a cellular phone and a passport were seized from him. The police said Elango illegally withdrew over Rs. 30 lakh from the ATM centres of a few nationalised banks and a private bank. The amount was then sent to the United Kingdom through unauthorised channels.
Teacher slapped
The Virugambakkam police arrested three youths for allegedly slapping a schoolteacher. The police said Joseph, Narendar Kumar and Sampath Kumar, who were in an inebriated condition, came to a private school on AVM Avenue, where they studied earlier.
