Macmillan India launches

MADURAI: With the objective of spreading a whiff of fresh air in classrooms, Macmillan India launched its revised editions of English and value education series at a function held here on Friday.

The `Sunshine English Series,' comprising readers and workbooks for students of Standards I to VIII, offers a structured pattern of teaching with stories and poems appropriate to the age.

It also has sections on phonic reading, skimming and scanning exercises that will enhance language awareness and special features of language use.

The `Garden of Life Series' for students of Standards I to X incorporates fun-filled activities and interesting projects, besides inspiring a variety of exercises.

The series also includes notes for teachers and parents, apart from exercises for children.

Macmillan also organised a workshop and an interactive seminar on language and values, aimed at empowering teachers with useful tips on the changing classroom scenario.

P. Nagarajan, Deputy Commissioner of Police, presided over the programme and released the books.

Santhi, Principal, Krishnammal Ramasubbaiyer Matriculation School, Madurai, and Sujatha from Little Angels School, Theni, received the first copies.
