BJP nominees' list released

Contestants for Legislative Council poll finalised


  • Executive has 58 regular members, 35 special invitees, 11 district in-charges
  • Weaker sections, SCs, STs given representation in executive

    HYDERABAD: The State unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday released the list of its nominees for election to eight graduate constituencies of the Legislative Council.

    The constituency-wise names of contestants are: Pruthvi Raj (Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam); Paka Satyanarayana (East and West Godavari); Majeti Papa Rao (Guntur and Krishna); Duvvuri Radhakrishna Reddy (Nellore, Prakasam and Chittoor); G.R.Karunakar (Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and Mahbubnagar); Gujjula Narsaiah (Warangal, Nalgonda and Khammam); Venkata Narayan Reddy (Karimnagar, Adilabad, Nizamabad and Medak); Parthasarathy (Anantapur, Kadapa and Kurnool).

    The State executive was also formed by party president Bandaru Dattatreya on Saturday. He nominated in-charges to every district and they would participate in the State executive as invitees.

    58 regular members

    The executive has 58 regular members, 35 special invitees, 11 district in-charges, apart from the national council member T. Ramacharyulu, a special invitee. Weaker sections, Scheduled Castes and STs were given representation in the State executive, according to a press release.

    Former MPs C. Janga Reddy (Warangal), Venkata Swamy (Chittoor); former MLAs M. Ayyaji Vema, K. Satyanarayana, M. Dharma Rao, Indira, Venkata Ramana Reddy, V. Ramulu; deputy Mayor of Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad Subhash Chanderjee; former Mayor of Visakhapatnam D.V.Subba Rao; former municipal chairman of Suryapet J. Satyanarayana; prominent advocates Jupudi Ranga Raju, L. Bhupathi Reddy, U. Srinivasa Raju, former member of National Women's Commission Santha Reddy, and others found place in the executive.
