Bangalore: The South division police arrested two persons and seized from them 980 explosive slurry and 1,650 detonators. The names of the arrested were given as Anandan (26) and Yelumalai (36), both residents of New Gurappanapalya on Bannerghatta Road. The two were caught while they were transporting the explosives in an autorickshaw on January 17, the police said. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Alok Kumar said the seized explosives were meant for use in quarrying and not for sabotage activities.
House burgled
Thieves broke into the house of an employee of a private company at Marathalli and looted electronic goods worth Rs. 3 lakh. The police said the incident took place at Ganesh's house when he and his family members were away for three days. On his return on Friday night, Ganesh found that thieves had entered the house by breaking the lock of the main door. They ransacked the house and made away with a handycam, a colour television set and a computer among other gadgets. The Whitefield police have registered a case.
