Andhra University

The Andhra Pradesh Federation of University Teachers Associations (APFUTA) is making a continuous effort to convince the Government to increase the age of superannuation from the present 60 years to 62 years. A recommendation made by the UGC in its 1996 revised pay-scales and again by its task force for basic scientific research in universities in 2005 to this effect has strengthened its argument.

Secretary of Andhra University Teachers Association (AUTA) B. Prasada Rao who is also secretary of APFUTA submitted a memorandum requesting the Government to increase the retirement age when Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy visited the city last week. Nagarjuna University

Acharya Nagarjuna University Academic Senate decided to have a single answer book for each examination at the University level so that missing of sheets is not there. At the 55th Academic Senate meeting presided over by Vice-Chancellor V. Balamohandas the members decided to give no scope for malpractice in attachment of additional sheets during examination time by providing a single answer book that could take care of entire need for white paper for a single student.

There have been several complaints and allegations of either the additional sheets being added or removed by unscrupulous elements to provide advantage or disadvantage to the student at crucial examinations. This landmark decision would give lesser scope for all these alleged misuse.

B. Tech revaluation

Personal Verification and revaluation of answer sheets of second semester examination of third and final year of Bachelor of Technology students in Acharya Nagarjuna University-affiliated colleges will be taken up if they apply for it before February 1. Announcing the schedule, the university authorities said that for each paper to be subjected to revaluation and personal verification a fee of Rs.620 had to be paid.
