ERODE: Members of the newly-formed Railway Season Ticket Holders Welfare Association have decided to observe a one-day token fast on January 24 in front of the Erode Municipal Office, in support of their demands. The general body meeting of the Association here on Sunday, presided by its president Venkatesan, demanded that the Chennai-Mangalore train (operated via Trichirapalli) leave Erode railway station at 7.50 a.m. for Tirupur, or a new train leave Erode at 7.45 a.m. for Coimbatore, and return from Coimbatore at 5 p.m. Over thousand passengers with season tickets used to take the Egmore-Coimbatore Express from Erode. However, it was extended to Mangalore on January 4, with change in timings. Further, the Trichirapalli-Mangalore Link Express too was stopped, leaving commuters with no train at around 7.30 a.m. to reach Tirupur or Coimbatore for work. President of Tamil Nadu Thinkers' Forum T. Stalin Gunasekaran spoke.
