CHENNAI:
Schools for India held the International Cycle Race on East Coast Road to improve awareness about its scheme to build and run high-quality schools in rural areas on Friday, in association with the Cycling Federation of India.
Around 400 participants took part in the race that had `the highest prize money for a cycling event in the country', according to organisers.
Winners in the men and women categories for professional rally and amateur race won around Rs. 2.25 lakh.
A few participants from France and the United States, besides teams from the southern States, Punjab, Maharashtra and the Railways were part of the race that started at VGP Golden Beach.
