Junkyard Groove goes international
Staff Reporter
CHENNAI:
Chennai band Junkyard Groove has just gone international. Come March, they will be opening for Iron Maiden, Prodigy and metal band Children of Bodom among others at the Desert Rock Festival (DRF), Dubai.
The band, which has funk, rock and jazz roots, entered an international competition `Shamal 2006', held to find the best, unsigned talent in and around the Middle East for the DRF. They had to send a demo CD of four original songs. Bombay band Pindrop Violence was the only other Indian band in the eight finalists. They came in second. The others were from Dubai, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Iran. The DRF 2007 will be held on March 9-10. Junkyard Groove will be performing on both days. Log on to desertrock.festival.com for more details.
