TOWARDS PROGRESS: Girls attending the session at Velankanni on Sunday.
NAGAPATTINAM: More than 120 girls from six tsunami-hit villages near Velankanni and Nagapattinam attended a special training programme on health awareness and personality development on Sunday. It was organised by Madurai-based People's Development Association (PDA), an NGO, engaged in tsunami rehabilitation activities in the district. "Every person has the responsibility to bring about changes that will establish a society based on the principles of justice, peace, equality and harmony," said Joe Velu, director of PDA. Girls from Vellapallam, Vettaikaraniruppu, Vilunthamavadi, Seruthur, Pandagasalai and Akkaraipattai underwent the training. "Staying informed of personal health, hygiene, marriage, economic development and entrepreneurship should help us become more responsible," Mr. Velu said. P. Ramaraj, BDO of Keezhaiyur, I. Tamilselvam, Managing Trustee of Annai Theresa Trust, spoke.
