Speedy payments to beneficiaries sought

Sangareddy: Medak district Collector B. Venkatesam addressed special officers and engineering staff following a video-conference by the Chief Minister here on Sunday and asked them to speed up payment to beneficiaries who started construction of houses under the Indiramma Housing Programme.

According to a press release, Mr. Venkatesam pointed out that so far only Rs. 27 crores was paid for the construction of 9,000 houses even though the officials were showing figures of 45,000 houses. The Collector warned action on the work inspectors who failed to make payments to the beneficiaries on time.

The Collector also announced that repairs to 958 medium ponds in 1, 060 panchayats were under taken at a cost of Rs. 44 crores to provide irrigation to 57,469 acres of land.

He also noted that work on only 190 ponds had begun so far and asked the officers to immediately start working on other ponds too.
