KOTTAYAM: Work on the development of Kottayam-Kumarakom Road would begin soon, Minister for Home and Tourism Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said here on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion of the commissioning of the renovated Thirunakkara Grounds, Mr. Balakrishnan said the road would be developed with a width of eight meters and raised wherever necessary. The Minister said the department had drawn up a plan to create a new circuit for tourists, connecting Kumarakom, Munnar and Thekkady. Mr. Balakrishnan allayed the fears of environmentalists that work in the tourism sector would upset the ecological balance.
