Thiruvananthapruam: Six persons were killed and two critically injured when the jeep in which they were travelling in collided with a KSRTC super fast bus at Kuriottu between Nilamel and Chadayamangalam on Sunday night. According to the police, the accident took place on M.C. Road by 8 p.m. The bus was proceeding from Thiruvananthapuram to Mananthavady and the jeep was coming in the opposite direction. The jeep was reportedly coming to the capital to collect newspapers. Four persons were brought dead to the casualty wing of the Medical College Hospital. Another person succumbed to injuries while under treatment at ward six around 10.15 p.m. Suresh, 27, the driver of the jeep was among those who died in the accident. He was a resident of Mannoorthu veedu, Kuttukkal, Ittuva panchayat. Suresh's assistant Jitesh Krishnan alias Kunju Kunju, 22, of Krishna Vilasom, Kuttukkal was also killed. The other deceased were identified as Ayyappan alias Krishna Kumar, 35, of Cherukara puthenveedu, Kadakkal; his brother Jayakumar, 38; Vasudevan, 48, of Churuvila Veedu, Nettayam, Kadakkal; and Jayaprakash of Subaida Building, Vakkom, Attingal. Two persons undergoing treatment at the Surgical ICU and ward six of the Medical College are yet to be identified. The condition of the person in the ICU was stated to be critical. The body of one person is in the Government Hospital, Kadakkal and that of others in the mortuary of the Medical College Hospital here.
