Workers stage protest

BANGALORE: Hundreds of workers, mainly from construction sites, staged a demonstration here on Tuesday demanding that the State Government should form a Labour Welfare Board.

The demonstration was held near the Mahatma Gandhi statue on Mahatma Gandhi Road under the aegis of All India Central Council of Trade Unions and All India Agricultural Labour Association.

Proposed move

These organisations urged the Government to drop its proposed move to collect monthly contribution from the workers for the Labour Welfare Fund and instead collect only registration fees.
