Sullying their image

Autorickshaw drivers in Kozhikode are known for their honesty.

There have been several instances when they have returned valuable items, including gold ornaments, left behind by passengers.

However, of late, at least some of the drivers are found to be flouting traffic rules and driving in a rash manner. They do not switch on the indicators at turnings, posing danger to other motorists. Two days back, a speeding autorickshaw knocked down an old man who was crossing the road at a zebra crossing in front of CSI Cathedral in the city. Such incidents will only serve to dent the image of the drivers.
