The campaign against video piracy has raised a host of issues. The raids are drawing contradictory responses from various quarters. While the film industry is in a festive mood, claiming that the ailing industry will revive once the menace is checked, shop owners, video library owners and other merchants are not a happy lot. The industry even claims that theatre revenues have gone up. The video libraries and small shop owners complain that in the guise of raids, the police are seizing even original prints. Once the police seize the CDs in a shop as suspected CDs, it is the responsibility of the owner to prove and reclaim the seized goods.
