Sangareddy: Nizamabad Range DIG Anjani Kumar inaugurated the first ever eight-layered synthetic tennis court at Medak district police headquarters here on Tuesday. District Collector B.Venkatesam, Superintendent of Police R.B. Nayak and legislator T. Jayaprakash Reddy played a game on the new court opening it for regular use. The court has been built at a cost of Rs. 14 lakhs. This is the only full-fledged court in the district headquarters and a synthetic court in any Government's office in the State. The project launched during the tenure of P.V. Sunil Kumar, took six months to be completed. The Police Department, which wanted to create a facility to fulfil the sporting needs of officers in the district, came up with the estimation and the Collector B. Venkatesam arranged the necessary funds. The court has a metal mesh around its periphery and floodlights for uninterrupted and smooth conduct of games.
Maintenance
The police here are planning to limit the membership to their staff and have also decided to charge fee for maintenance of the court.
