Universal Cables ties up with Furukawa

KOLKATA: Universal Cables, an M. P. Birla group company, has entered into a technology tie-up with Furukawa of Japan to make extra-high voltage (EHV) cables up to 400 kV capacity. Top company sources said that this was the first time that such cables would be made in India. The product would be made in a unique location, atop a 106 metre tower (the Qutab Minar is about 86 metres) at UCL's unit in Satna.
