The Indian Space Research Organisation has done it. The successful splashdown of the Space Capsule Recovery Experiment (SRE-1) in the Bay of Bengal on Monday has proved to the world that India's scientists and engineers are second to none in space technology.

* * * By successfully recovering the SRE-1, ISRO has not only added another feather to its cap, it has also boosted India's image abroad. The efforts of the ISRO team, working in tandem with the Coast Guard against heavy odds, have paid off. The sky, literally, seems to be the limit for our space scientists.
