Moily calls for peace committee meetings

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The former Chief Minister M. Veerappa Moily has called for conducting peace committee meetings at the State and district levels to create an atmosphere of tranquillity.

In a letter to Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, Mr. Moily has asked him to ensure that provocative posters and banners are not displayed.

Mr. Moily said violence was reported in Mangalore in December 2006 and early January. Incidents in Bangalore over the weekend reflected communal conflicts of a serious dimension.
